New Forex Update!

We have changed the forex trading mechanism to bring tiPythia in line with a standard forex trading account.

1) There is now no currency conversion from your virtual account balance into the primary currency.

2) Your trade is no longer capped at your virtual account balance, so you now have leverage.

3) There is now no cost when opening the trade, your virtual balance is adjusted only at trade closure.

Best Regards,

Asian Markets Today

Weak opening by most major bourses this morning with some profit taking in Resource sector evident despite the strong performance of Gold overnight. It seems the rate rise in China overnight might have sparked a little profit taking after several weeks of very strong gains.

China and HK back after market holiday yesterday will no doubt set the tone for the region in the afternoon given first time they have traded since the rate rise.

Utah Opts For Cold Hard Cash

A new Utah legislature proposal requires government agencies to accept gold for transactions, creating a new (old) inflation proof currency outside the evil manifestation of the Federal Reserve Bank

The “Utah Sound Money Act” was drafted by local attorney Larry Hilton who said that “un-backed money created by the Federal Reserve to stimulate the economy, is hanging over us like the sword of Damocles waiting to just come down in an avalanche and destroy the value of our currency.”

Taking Some Profits On the Goldman Upgrade Rise

It was time to take some profits yesterday on Alcatel-Lucent (ALU). The recent 8.8% price surge caused by the Goldman Sachs upgrade made me think that it might briefly go over bought. That trade monetized a 92.03% gain from a position held since the 5th of January and released some powder to get back in on the pullback.

Live Forex and Metal Price Feeds!

We are pleased to announce that tiPythia is now using live real-time feeds from Xignite. The opening and closing prices of metal and forex positions are now populated with real-time market price data.

For now, we continue to use Yahoo for the opening and closing of stock trades and cached market prices for stock, forex and metal data. As the website grows we plan to move more feeds over to Xignite and broaden the data available.

Gold and Economic Freedom

An almost hysterical antagonism toward the gold standard is one issue which unites statists of all persuasions. They seem to sense – perhaps more clearly and subtly than many consistent defenders of laissez-faire – that gold and economic freedom are inseparable, that the gold standard is an instrument of laissez-faire and that each implies and requires the other.
